Following a huge amount of work from the ACE Training Committee, ACE launched version 2 of the ACE Certificate in Clinical Embryology in 2009. This new training scheme is completely remodelled to reflect the dynamic nature of our profession and ensure that our new scientists are getting as solid and relevant a training in up to date embryological practical skills and the theory which underpins it. More detailed information on the certificate and ACE's commitment to education is available on the education page.
ACE members are now eligible to be examined to join the Royal College of Pathologists (RCPath). By taking and successfully completing the college's Part I and Part II examinations, embryologists can continue their career development to Consultant Clinical Scientist Level. Following successful grandparenting examinations throughout 2008 and 2009 the RCPath now has approximately 100 embryologists amongst its members and the first candidates have successfully completed the Part I and Part II by examination. The part I examination comprises 9 hours of formal written and practical examinations at a combined cost of £980 (2010 fees).
