ACE response to NICE IUI consultation - June 2016

The original question asked, “What is the effectiveness of intrauterine insemination (IUI) in people with unexplained infertility, mild endometriosis or ‘mild’ male factor infertility?” The outcome, that “the GDG recommends that IUI (with or without stimulation) should not be routinely offered” was based on very few papers, all over 10 years old and of low or very low quality.

We would argue that mainstream IUI practice is economically viable, based on other more recent studies and opinion:

Cessation of the ACE Certificate in Clinical Embryology

14 September 2015

The Association of Clinical Embryologists gives notice that no further applications for the ACE Certificate in Clinical Embryology will be accepted after 31st December 2015.  Centres wishing to use the ACE Certificate to train staff in Scotland, Northern Ireland and Eire, must submit their completed applications for a start date no later than 31st December 2015.  New trainees have not been accepted in England or Wales since 30th September 2013.
